PokePath Shiny Pokémon Guide: How to Farm Shinies with Smeargle
In most Pokémon games, finding a Shiny is about luck and encountering wild monsters. In PokePath TD, the mechanic is completely different—and much more fun.
You don't "find" PokePath Shiny Pokémon; you paint them using Smeargle.

This guide covers everything you need to know about Shiny Odds, the Smeargle mechanic, and the best farming maps using Segmental's Bicycle.
🎨 How to Get Shiny Pokémon: The Smeargle Mechanic
You cannot hatch Shiny Pokémon from eggs. The only way to turn a Pokémon shiny is by using Smeargle.
How it Works
When you deploy Smeargle on the battlefield, every time it attacks an enemy, it has a tiny chance to "paint" one of your owned Pokémon, turning it Shiny permanently.
- Trigger: The shiny conversion is triggered Per Hit. The more times Smeargle attacks, the higher your chances.
- Scope: Smeargle affects ALL Pokémon you own.
- It can turn units in your active team Shiny.
- It can turn units sitting in your Team Management (Box) Shiny.
- Constraint: It only affects Pokémon in their Final Evolution Form. (e.g., It will turn Charizard shiny, but not Charmander).
📊 The Shiny Odds (Math Breakdown)
What are the chances of getting a Shiny?
- Base Chance: 0.011% (approx. 1 in 9,000 hits).
- With Shiny Charm: 0.033% (approx. 1 in 3,000 hits).
Note: While 1 in 3,000 sounds low, remember that in Tower Defense, a unit can attack hundreds of times per minute. If you set up the right farm, you can unlock shinies very quickly.
Do Shinies Have Better Stats?
Generally, No.
- Cosmetic Only: For 99% of units, the Shiny form is purely a visual skin. It looks cool, but deals the same damage.
- The Exception: Clefable.
- A Shiny Clefable gains a +1 Damage Bonus. It is the only unit in the game with a mechanical benefit for being shiny.
🚴 The Farming Tool: Segmental's Bicycle & Wave Manager
To farm shinies efficiently, you need Segmental's Bicycle.
What does Segmental's Bicycle do?
This item unlocks the Wave Manager.
- Once unlocked, you can start a route at ANY Wave you choose (e.g., Wave 100), provided you have beaten that route's boss previously.
- Why this matters: You don't need to play Waves 1-99 to reach the tanky boss. You can jump straight to the boss to farm hits.

📍 Best Maps to Farm Shiny Pokémon
The goal is to let Smeargle hit an enemy as many times as possible without killing it too fast. We need a target with High Armor or High HP.
Strategy: The "Boss Painting" Method
- Equip: Shiny Charm (if owned).
- Select Map: Route 3-1 (Target: Regirock) or Route 3-2 (Target: Regice).
- Reason: These bosses have massive Armor (190k - 900k). Smeargle does very little damage to them, meaning it can hit them thousands of times before the boss dies.
- Wave Manager: Set start to Wave 100.
- Setup:
- Place Smeargle (Max Level recommended for attack speed).
- Place Corsola/Dewgong to slow/stun the boss (keep it in range longer).
- DO NOT place Armor Piercing units (like Weavile or Samurott). You want the boss to survive!
- Settings: Turn on Auto-Retry.
- AFK: Let Smeargle attack the boss forever. Even if you lose the wave, the hits count towards the Shiny Roll.
By using this method, Smeargle will attack thousands of times per hour, eventually painting your entire collection Shiny.

❓ FAQ
Q: Does Smeargle need to be near the Pokémon I want to turn Shiny? A: No. Smeargle can be on the field, and the Pokémon you want to turn Shiny can be in your PC Box. Smeargle paints your entire account's inventory globally.
Q: Can I get a Shiny Legendary? A: Currently, Legendaries appear as bosses but are not obtainable/playable units in the standard roster, so you cannot have a Shiny Entei yet.
Q: How do I know if I got a shiny? A: Check your Team Management. You will see the sprite color change.
